As a Volunteer Befriender (VB), you will engage the seniors in intergenerational exchange and impart knowledge on healthy ageing through meaningful and fun activities at Chinatown.

If you are trained in first-aid, do highlight to us. :)

Note: There will be an exclusive dialect workshop just for you! This is to equip you with basic dialect phrases (on diabetes messages and reminiscing) so that you can better engage the seniors on 4 Nov. :)

Volunteer Storyteller

As a Volunteer Storyteller (VS), you are empowered to document the exciting moments between the seniors and youths at We Are Stronger Together. You will take photographs/videos and write appropriate captions for the reminiscence components of Human Library, and post on social media.

VS should:

  • Attend the compulsory VS Training on 28 Oct (Sat), 9am-3.30pm at National Youth Council (490 Lor 6 Toa Payoh #04-10 HDB Hub Biz Three, 310490)
  • Capture and share great moments on social media on 4 Nov (Sat), 8am-2pm at Kreta Ayer CC Multi-purpose hall

Please ensure that you are available on both sessions when applying for this volunteering opportunity.

Creativity, experience in photography/videography and social media execution will be good. Upon applying for this position online, kindly email Rosie at rosie_sim@nyc.gov.sg to confirm that you are comfortable in this role. If you are trained in first-aid, do highlight to us. :)

Volunteer Coordinator

As a Volunteer Coordinator (VC), you are empowered to create a positive volunteering experience for the Volunteer Befrienders (VBs). You will lead the teams to various locations in Kreta Ayer, support the VBs in the activities and in engaging the seniors, while ensuring their safety throughout the event. VCs are expected to conduct debrief and feedback session with the volunteers at the end of the session. 

VCs should:

  • Attend the compulsory VC Training on 28 Oct (Sat), 9am-3.30pm at National Youth Council (490 Lor 6 Toa Payoh #04-10 HDB Hub Biz Three, 310490)
  • Come prepared to lead your VBs on 4 Nov (Sat), 8am-2pm at Kreta Ayer CC Multi-purpose hall

Please ensure that you are available on both sessions when applying for this volunteering opportunity.

Prior experience in volunteer management will be strongly considered. Upon applying for this position online, kindly email Rosie at rosie_sim@nyc.gov.sg to share about your leadership and community service experience in the past 5 years. Youth Overall In-Charge

As a Youth Overall In-Charge, you are empowered to take charge of your team that consists of 5 VC, 5 VS. Together, you're in charge of 5 groups throughout the event day on the 4th of November. You will lead your team mates along with at least 25 VBs and 25 seniors, through the streets of Kreta Ayer.

You will be an anchor to your own cluster and ensure that things run smoothly during the event.

You are also requirede to brief your fellow team leaders on the event plan and ensure their full understanding of their roles.

 

YOICs should:

  • Attend the compulsory training to engage your cluster VC and VS on 28 Oct (Sat), 9am-3.30pm at National Youth Council (490 Lor 6 Toa Payoh #04-10 HDB Hub Biz Three, 310490)

Who We Are

Youth Corps Singapore is a national institution that supports young Singaporeans who are keen to serve the community. As the champion for youth volunteerism, it harnesses the energy and passion of youths to ignite positive change in the society through community service.

Bringing together Singapore Citizens and PRs aged 16 to 35, Youth Corps Singapore provides a platform for youths to learn new skills and meet like-minded peers, who aspire to go forth and create a better Singapore and a better world for all.

What We Offer

As a Member of Youth Corps Singapore, you can make friends with people like yourself at various platforms. Whether it’s health, education, or environmental causes, we offer a diverse range of volunteering opportunities and events for our Members, from community service events to regular volunteering.

Members can also join our Leaders Programme as Aspirants. We provide relevant trainings where you can take your skills and knowledge of service-learning to the next level, and apply them to a project to impact the community. You will also forge greater bonds with fellow Aspirants, and enjoy exclusive perks. When you are conferred as a Leader, you get to continue to develop yourself, initiate community projects and rally your friends to join you on a good cause.

The Red Box

Set in the heart of Orchard Road, The Red Box is a place for youths to gather, exchange ideas and take action to make Singapore a better home for all. Its name draws inspiration from the red box of Singapore’s Founding Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. It represents the late Mr Lee’s love and conviction towards creating a better Singapore.

The Red Box is open to all Youth Corps Members to ignite positive change in our community. Look out for various enrichment and engagement sessions at The Red Box.
